Position Key Responsibility Summary: * Lead and provide support as appropriate with conceptual and detailed design of solar electrical systems * Prepare phased payment/monthly release and liability charts as needed. * Design review of electrical, civil, structural plans, specifications, calculations, and studies. * Support structural design activities as needed * Emphasis on civil/structural items ? pile design, corrosion analysis, geotechnical investigations, construction material testing, racking design. * Independent review of testing, commissioning plan, and QA/QC documentation. * Review of electrical studies including but not limited to load flow, reactive power capability, short circuit, relay coordination and arch flash. * Conduct site visits and inspection as necessary. * Performs quantity take-offs. * Assists in the pricing and bidding of renewable and conventional generation construction projects. * Communicates with engineers, suppliers and consultants to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements, and documents these clarifications. * Conducts reviews of milestone documents for the development and pricing of value alternative opportunities. * Actively participates in the internal estimate review process. * Assists with final assembly of estimate for presentation to owner. * After the bid, collects and organizes all bid information for future reference. * Aids field operations with change order pricing if needed. * Directs, coordinates and provides information and documents to subcontractors and vendors. * Prepares contractual exhibits for scope of work for subcontracts and purchase orders. * Participates in estimate and budgeting activities by soliciting subcontractor and vendor support and evaluating bids. * Champions standardization by identifying and documenting \"Best Practices\" as they arise. * Participates in site walks and client-facing meetings as required. Industry Knowledge / Relationships * Builds relationships with subcontractors to obtain a competitive advantage for McCarthy. * Attends industry events and represents McCarthy to the industry in a professional capacity. * Builds and maintains relationships with internal McCarthy clients. * Keeps current with latest technology and techniques to improve McCarthy competitiveness in the marketplace * Demonstrates basic conceptual estimating skills by interpolating data. * Questions designs and assumptions and presents ideas to manager on the project. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 3-5 years of equivalent experience required (structural design experience preferred). * General knowledge of construction principles and processes. * Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications. * General knowledge of negotiated bids, hard bids, and GMP processes. * Working knowledge of AutoCAD and other tools to determine energy prediction * Strong math and analytical skills. * Attention to detail. * Solid interpersonal and communication skills. * Demonstrates behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values. * Maintains a \"value added\" approach to estimating.
